Hi. I’m Suzanne. I've been maintaining a practice in the Uptown area of Albuquerque since 2016 and am adding on a Taos location in 2020. I give workshops and lectures at UNM, movement and acting studios, massage schools, and meditation centers. Many of my students are medical professionals, mind/body practitioners, meditators, business professionals, as well as artists. My background includes teaching yoga, somatic meditation, weight lifting and fitness, English in Japan and working in a professional environment at a computer all day. I’m also a dedicated meditator in the Shambhala tradition. All of this contributes to my skills and knowledge as an Alexander Technique teacher.

I was born in fairly good condition, but many stressors began plaguing me early in my life and I developed a chronic disease (interstitial cystitis), neck and back pain, athletic injuries, TMJ syndrome, shoulder and wrist pain, sciatica, tension migraines, loss of vision, acid reflux, digestive distress, and chronic candida amongst other conditions. It got so bad that I thought that I would never have a steady career or be healthy enough to live a normal life.

Eventually, I got into meditation and yoga to deal with the pain. I taught yoga for a few years and found that although I enjoyed the teaching and the emphasis on health, I was in even more pain. This led me to an Alexander Technique Teacher who, with gentle hands-on guidance, led me through an experience of no pain and unbelievable freedom in daily activities. She showed me how I could undo tension, stress and painful movement patterns whether sitting at a computer, exercising or even sleeping. My favorite part about the first Alexander Technique lessons I received was the feeling of self-confidence, embodiment and freedom that they gave me. Not only was I becoming pain-free but I was finding more inspiration and energy to live a fulfilling life. The lessons healed my mind, body & spirit. I currently enjoy freedom from ill-health and pain and the knowledge to prevent it for life.

I received my training through a rigorous and disciplined 1600 hour AMSAT Teacher Training Course with my final year of training with Karen DeWig in Albuquerque. My studies have included The Dart Procedures – using childhood developmental knowledge to understand the natural functioning and movement of children and adults, and a certification to deliver The Alexander Technique in primary, secondary and collegiate educational institutions. The Alexander Technique is a catalyst for the learning process to begin. The training also encompasses respiratory and vocal re-education, which is how The Alexander Technique was originally brought into creation.

When my daughter had such relief after working with Suzanne, I became a student myself. Working with postural change and movement has helped me learn to move, stand and sit in a painless way. I have also found that as a result, I have more energy. Suzanne conveys terms well, is an outstanding teacher, and has always acted with professionalism. Both myself and my daughter continue to have lessons with her and have seen a vast improvement in our overall health.

I went to Suzanne because my intuition said I needed alignment and she showed up at a meditation retreat I was attending. I didn’t really have any expectations, so imagine my surprise when my feet — still a disaster even after surgery — started to feel better. My neck pain went away too. I can’t say enough about Suzanne and her teaching — while I’ve finished my lessons, the training stays with me.

No doubt the Alexander Technique has helped my posture.  I believe Suzanne’s gentle instruction for “neck free” has greater potential for alleviating my chronic neck and shoulder pain than any treatment previously prescribed by Orthopedists or Physical Therapists.

I was blown away after my first lesson with Suzanne! I have experienced many different forms of work such as acupuncture and massage, and know how difficult it can be to find someone truly gifted in their practice. Suzanne is one of these people. I do believe the Alexander Technique is her calling! I have recommended many of my friends and colleagues to her. She has a calm presence and the patience of a saint!
